a month and a half later

yoyo....craziness has officially set-in for this school year.  Since I last posted, I have accepted a youth internship at Smithwood Baptist Church, so...yeah...more busy.  This past Saturday I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Donald Miller at a church in Franklin.  I have a couple of things to say about that: 1. We are about the same gerth as far as weight is concerned...he is a little taller than me, of this I was surprised. 2. He is just as funny and enlightening in person as he is in his books. 3.  A story----I was there meeting Donald Miller as a gift to my girlfriend for her 21st birthday.  She knew going into this weekend that we were going on a trip...that is all (of course, she figured it out in the car when she found out we were going into the central time zone).  Essentially, the whole point of this trip was for it to be a present to my girlfriend...okay.  That being said...we fast forward to Sunday morning.  We approach Donald Miller and introduce ourselves...I say a few things about how I appreciated his ministry and what not...I then pull out my ragged copy of Blue Like Jazz with intentions of asking him to write a note in it...He asks me, "matt, who should I make this out to?"  I tell him, "just Matt," and with a pleasant look on his face, he writes a note in my book.  In hindsight, I was somewhat starstruck, so in that moment I did not really consider to say to him, "hey Donald, make that note out to Ashley and Matt, because the book has really been a help to both of us...and IT IS HER BIRTHDAY!!!!"  Okay, I've learned from my mistake and discussed it with her.  I felt like a complete dufus, but I am fortunate to have a lady who carries a great deal of patience with me and my idiocy.  The truth is she was still happy that she just got to meet Donald Miller and that I had surprised her and that we both were priviledged to hear him speak.  All in all....an incredible experience.

back to school

I'm at school....crazy stuff.  I'm loving my new apartment so far...I am really looking forward to the fellas arriving later this week, so that will be exciting.  It is kind of strange, because I'm not used to the whole having a kitchen thing....and I only share a bathroom with one guy...pretty friggin incredible.  I'm still reading Don Juan.  I love it, but it's just taking forever for me to read it.  hopefully I will be done soon and move on to something new...like...assigned reading for all of my classes.  AWESOME!  whelp...I can't really think of anything else to write, so I'm going to stop.  seriously...I got nothing.

to continue

Velvet Elvis was incredible.  I only have a week and a half of camp remaining for the summer...sweet.  I'm now moving on to one of the Dr. Wheeler heavy recommendations, so it will take much longer.  Ashley is coming back on Sunday, so that'll be awesome.  yup yup.
